Paid Leave For All
Paid leave for all is a necessary step to ensure longevity and wellness for the American people and economy. Having a clear and effective policy for family and paid leave protects employee well-being, business liability, and promotes gender equality in the workplace.
Problem
Only 19% of workers in the United States have access to family and paid leave through their employers. Majority of workers are left without a safety net if a family member falls ill or a child is born. Gender and poverty inequality is disproportionately heightened for low-income families, part-time workers, and younger women.
Our Plan
A clear and effective policy for paid leave protects employee well-being, business liability, and promotes gender equality in the workplace. We believe that all families deserve this right.
Reinforce Existing Policies
Modify the Family and Medical Leave Act so that it includes paid family leave.
Pass the Healthy Families Act.
Expand the definition of family to ensure all couples and means of having a child are covered by insurance
Increase Paid Leave Access for All
Advocate for safety net funds for smaller employers and businesses to bridge the gap of profit loss if they cannot afford to offer paid leave themselves.
Create paid leave policy for part-time workers that is proportional to their work hours.
Ensure undocumented people can access paid leave coverage.
This Matters
Compared to our predecessors, we are on average working more hours for less money and less credit. Balancing our lives should not come at the cost of our jobs; paid leave is essential for maintaining workforce morale, reducing poverty, and bridging gender gaps.
